The song’s melody is a variation on the B section of Epistrophy. It begins as a slow waltz, moves to a fast waltz where the tempo equals the quarter-note triplets in Epistrophy.

Bob's arrangement begins in duple meter with a guitar intro, but a layer of triple meter sets the time once the bass (on melody) and drums enter. After the head and a couple solos in G, the intro returns and transitions the song to the key of B. After the final solo, the song returns to the original key. The ending is like the intro, but suggests the transition section before ending on G.
